Radar System Design Engineer

SAIC · Reston, Virginia, US, US

Join SAIC as a Radar System Design Engineer to support advanced space-based ISR and ground radar mission systems. You will lead radar architecture development, design signal processing algorithms, and ensure system performance under operational conditions. This is a mission-critical role with direct impact on national defense technology.

About the Role

SAIC is a premier technology integrator serving the U.S. federal government with deep expertise in engineering, intelligence, and IT. As a Radar System Design Engineer, you will work in a mission-driven environment supporting space-based and ground radar systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define radar architectures, develop signal processing algorithms, and validate subsystems through hardware-in-the-loop testing. This role demands technical excellence, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Ideal candidates have 8-12+ years of radar design experience and a TS/SCI clearance. Your work will directly contribute to national security and advanced ISR capabilities.

What You Will Do

Lead radar system architecture development, deriving functional and performance requirements from mission needs.

Develop radar waveform designs, radar modes, and associated signal processing algorithms.

Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis of radar system performance under operational conditions.

Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, sensor integration, and validation of radar subsystems.

Develop technical documentation, design artifacts, performance briefs, trade studies, and algorithm specifications.

Collaborate with systems, integration, MBSE, payload, and ISR engineering teams to ensure interface compatibility and mission alignment.

Support customer technical interchange meetings, milestone reviews, and engineering working groups.

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field; Master's preferred.

8-12+ years of experience in radar system design, radar architecture, or radar signal processing.

Expertise in RF hardware design, payload architectures, and test methodologies.

Experience with RF test equipment including VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.

Must have a TS/SCI, and be willing to obtain a poly.

If you’re passionate about radar technology and want to make a tangible impact on national defense, this is your opportunity. Apply today to join a team that’s shaping the future of ISR systems.
