About the Frankston Foreshore Program

Accessible Beaches Australia (ABA) is again partnering with Frankston City Council and Surf Life Saving Victoria to deliver Year 2 of the Staffed Accessible Beach Program on the Frankston Foreshore, after a hugely successful pilot in the Summer of 2025/2026.

The program is designed to cater for a range of needs with 70 meters of beach matting, bookable daybeds, shaded by cabanas, specialised beach access equipment, and a newly constructed Changing Places facility, all supported by a team of trained attendants and dedicated volunteers.

Access to all equipment and services is provided at no cost to visitors, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a safe, welcoming, and inclusive day at the beach.

Operating three days per week, the program has set a new national benchmark for inclusive coastal recreation, showcasing how beaches can be welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

About the Role

The Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations of the Accessible Beach program at Frankston Foreshore. This hands-on role centres on supporting people with disabilities to enjoy safe and inclusive access to the beach, while providing leadership, coordination, and direct engagement with staff, volunteers, and beachgoers to ensure smooth operations each day.

You’ll work closely with Surf Life Saving Victoria and Frankston City Council to deliver a fun, high-quality, safe, and accessible beach experience.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily beach operations, including setup, pack-down, and oversight of all activities

Supervise staff and volunteers to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient service delivery

Communicate with, and roster volunteers

Manage the booking system, ensuring fair and equitable access to all facilities

Communicate daily with Surf Life Saving Victoria to coordinate patrol coverage and water safety, and monitor weather and water quality alerts to make informed operational decisions

Ensure daybeds, cabanas, beach wheelchairs and equipment are allocated appropriately and maintained to a high standard

Welcome visitors, operate the concierge point, and provide outstanding customer service

Assisting people to transfer safely between their wheelchair or walking aid, daybeds and beach wheelchair/walker

Ensure surveys are completed with participants to capture valuable feedback

Provide weekly reporting to Frankston City Council and ABA

Address any urgent matters promptly and professionally

Physical Requirements

This hands-on role involves outdoor work and manual handling, including lifting and setting up equipment such as beach matting, cabanas, and daybeds. Applicants must be able to perform these tasks safely and effectively.

Language Requirement

English proficiency is required for all duties and communication.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must hold a current First Aid Certificate (Workplace Level 2) and CPR Certificate. Additional emergency response training is preferred.
